Life-Like 1/88 Joseph Conrad Cadet School Ship - (ex-Pyro), 09215 plastic model kit

1/88 09215 Life-Like Joseph Conrad Cadet School Ship - (ex-Pyro)

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

Still factory sealed but the seal has split and the box has superficial damage as shown. From original Pyro molds. The Joseph Conrad was built in 1882 in Denmark as the Georg Stage. Alan Villiers bought the ship in 1934 and saved it from the breakers. He renamed it Joseph Conrad for the famous maritime author. The ship made a famous round-the-world voyage from which Villiers wrote three books about the travels. The ship is now a museum ship at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and is still used for static sailing ship training. The kit was originally made in the early 1960s and is nicely done for that time. Measures about 16 inches long when built. Includes detailed hull and deck, billowing sails, rigging material and rigging guide photos. Molded in black and ivory.
