Hillcrest 1/48 1910 Curtiss Pusher Model A plastic model kit

1/48 Hillcrest 1910 Curtiss Pusher Model A

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Old and rare kit from 1952. When most kits were wood, Hillcrest has to put 'Prefabricated Parts' on the cover to distinguish it from other models of the time. The kit has injection molded main parts in the frame of the actual aircraft. The small cello bag is still sealed and contains cast metal details such as the engine and tank, the clear molded wheel disks and a small envelope of plastic cement that you could mix to acetone. This was included because back then you simply could not by cement that would glue plastic models together. The instructions have a very nice three view drawing, parts diagram and written instructions. Never started. Factory sealed bag and inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Curtiss Pusher Model A was designed and flown by Glenn Curtiss. This aircraft made a record-breaking flight from Albany to New York, giving millions of New Yorkers their first look at a flying machine. Later, with a larger 100HP V-8 engine, it won the world speed record at the first French International Air Meet. Additionally, it was the first aircraft to land and take off of a carrier.
