Adams 280mm Atomic Cannon With 2 Gun Transporters - M65, 1/40, K153-398

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$565

Very rare and even more so in this condition. Classic Cold-War kit from the late 1950s. The Atomic Cannon was the Army's 20 mile range gun that could fire shells that contains small atomic bombs. The model is very highly detailed for that time and features transporters with movable wheels, towing yokes, fully detailed cab interiors & complete suspension, elevating and swiveling machine guns; the Atomic Cannon itself can be configured for firing or towing positions, the barrel elevates by real operating gears, the carriage rotates 360 degrees on platform and it actually fires 2 "Atomic" shells. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the model is factory new. It has never been started.. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. The decals are absolutely flat and in 'Good++' condition with the typical yellowing and a very light stain as the main flaws. The instructions are in 'very good++' condition with very light wear and typical yellowing as the only flaws. The box has like-new color and gloss. There are no tears, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape), four solid corners, no repairs and no fading. However, it does have light to moderate general shelf wear as shown, mainly on the edges. There is one small factory tape litho pull on the upper long side which measures 1/2" x 3/8". The amazing M65 280mm atomic cannon originally started life as a conventional artillery piece. Development first began in 1944 before the first atomic weapon had been tested. Far from being 'just another giant gun', the M65 was carefully designed to be a very mobile and versatile weapon. Liberal use of aluminum and other light-weight metals kept the weight of the gun and both transports to about 85 tons, which is not much more than the largest conventional gun of WWII. As a result, it is light enough to be carried by trucks and cross bridges without collapsing them. Size was also a major factor, as it can fit inside landing craft, turn street corners of an amazingly small radius and travel as fast at 35 mph. The two transporters are required to move the gun, with one in back and one in front. Power is supplied to each tractor by a 6 cylinder engine with 375 horsepower. Both transmissions are manually controlled. These 4x4 machines can push, pull or parallel one another - with the gun slung between them. The driver of the front tractor has control of the brakes and throttles of both units and can communicate to the rear driver by telephone. The gun can be traversed in a complete circle and has a range of up to 20 miles. A complete 280mm batter consisted of two guns, four 5-ton trucks towing ammunition trailers, another two trucks pulling a pair of generator trailers (each with a 30 KW generator to furnish power to the guns, a 5th truck carrying four shell carts and a 2 1/2 ton shop van. The total crew was about 100 men. Each gun could be set up to fire in less than 12 minutes and can fire a round every two minutes.

Yellow Cat Japanese Navy Particular Type 2 Motor Launch Ka-mi Late, 1/35, 35024

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$119

Very, very rare and highly detailed model cast in high definition resin. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The Special Type 2 Launch Ka-Mi (Toku-ni-shiki uchibitei kami) was the first amphibious tank of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) in WWII. However, too few were produced too late for it to have an impact. The Ka-Mi was designed, initially, to assault islands. However, by the time it entered service, the Japanese forces were already on the defensive. They were used for infantry support, sometimes as moving pillboxes. Three formed the 1st Yokosuka Special Naval Landing Force based at Saipan, while two saw action in Leyte in 1944. They were affected to various naval garrison detachments in the Southern Pacific and East Indies. The USMC encountered the Ka-Mi when assaulting the Marianna and Marshall islands, at Guam, Aitape and Biak in New Guinea, and during the invasion of Leyte. Some sources claim that, off the coast of Leyte, USMC LVTs attacked and destroyed some Ka-Mis. Two survived to this day at the Kubinka Museum and on Palau island.

Both decal sheets are perfectly flat, 100% intact and in 'excellent++' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw. NOTE: while all parts are present, the tiny axles are broken off of the missile trailer and missing. This is unfortunately common with this kit because they are incredibly small and fine. NOTE: the very top of the box displays 'Near Mint++" condition but is only rated 'Excellent++' because there is general wear and scuffing on the two long side panels. Alex Papana, 'The Famed Romanian Acrobatic Pilot' who exhibited it in the 1936 National Air Races in Los Angles and several other events. Col. Mike Murphy, International Acrobatic Champion for several years, purchased the plane in 1940 and flew it in all major USA meets and competition until retiring. Beverly Howard purchased this plane from Col. Murphy in 1946 and has flow it in all major meets since that time including events in France and Germany in 1950. Amodel Miasischev M-50A Bounder - Supersonic Soviet Bomber, 1/72, 72016

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$210

Rare and the only 1/72 scale injection-molded kit ever made of this giant Russian Supersonic Bomber. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. From the website nuke.fas.org comes this descriptions: OKB Myasishchyev began working on the supersonic intercontinental bomber M-50 in 1956. The aircraft was intended to be equipped with and the supersonic long-range M-61 cruise missile, also developed by OKB Myasishchyev. The bomber had a strategic strike capability due to its range of 10,000 km plus the 1000 km range of the missile. The M-50 had forward trailing triangular wings, a wing span of 35.1 meters and a length of 57.5 meters. Powered by four "16-17" engines developed by P.F. Zubets, two engine pods were mounted outboard on the wings and two less powerful engines at the tip of the wings. The prototype was constructed in 1959 and made the first flight on 27 October 1959. As engines the which were supposed to equip the airplane were at that time not yet available, on the prototype version two VD-7 engines and two VD-7g were used. In this configuration the demonstrated a speed of Mach 0.99. The second M-50, designated the M-52, carried the Zubets engines around which the aircraft had been designed. The engine installation was modified, and a second tailplane was added to the top of the fin. In December 1960, N. S. Khruschev, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) made a speech at the Supreme Soviet session in which he proclaimed the inexpedience of the further development of military aircraft. The Soviet leader, fascinated by the triumph of Russian space technology and exploration, directed that all the tasks formerly executed by the combat aircraft be performed by guided missiles of various types. The Council of Ministers and the CPSU Central Committee issued a joint decree terminating work on new aircraft. The first victims of the decree were the Lavochkin and Myasischev aircraft design bureaus. They had to fully reorganize their work. V. Myasischev was appointed director of TsAGI. He was very disappointed at the fact that only a few of his M-50 and M-52 long-range supersonic bombers were produced. In 1960 development of the M-50 bomber was halted when OKB Myasishchyev was dis-established. Surprisingly little is known about the Bounder. One writer commented that it was "an outstanding failure which revealed an embarrassing lack of understanding of the problems of high-speed flight."

Amodel Tupolev Tu-126 Moss, 1/72, 72017

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$189

Rare and the only 1/72 scale injection-molded kit ever made of this Soviet airborne radar/early warning aircraft. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Tupolev TU-126 Moss (NATO Designation) was based on the obsolete Aeroflot TU-114 Airliner, itself developed from the TU-95 (TU-20) Bear turboprop bomber first flown in the 1950s. The Tupolev Bear and derivatives have the distinction of being the fastest propeller driven aircraft in the world. First identified in 1968, the Moss is believed to have entered service in 1971, the exact number used by Soviet Forces being unknown. The TU-126 has been assessed by Western sources as being of only limited capability, being unable to detect cruise missiles or small aircraft at low level. Commencing in the early 1980s the Beriev A-50 Mainstay began development to replace the TU-126 in service. With greater capability than the Moss, operational examples began being fielded in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
