Early issue from the 1960s of this unique 1/500 scale kit with rare glossy box art from the 'Golden Age' of Japanese model kit illustrations. Can be built for operation in water or static full hull or waterline versions. This model is well detailed and molded for that time. Features a Mabuchi FA-13 motor in the colorful, original box, metal and brass gearbox for dual propeller drive, u-joint, brass batter contacts and switch, metal propeller shafts, one piece lower hull (molded in the correct dark red), one piece upper hull (molded in gray), detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets and separately molded secondary battery and AA guns, catapults, floatplanes and more. Never started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the hardware parts have been inventoried compete. Includes instructions. Please note that Nichimo did not supply decals with this issue.

1985 Revell of Germany reissue from the original 1974 USA molds. Can be built waterline or full hull with complete propeller and rudder detail. Features detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main 8" turrets, six dual AA gun mounts, three rangefinders, cranes, gun directors, searchlights, AR-196 floatplane and more. The Blucher had the dubious distinction of being the only capital ship sunk in WWII by coastal torpedo batteries. She was also the only German capital ship to be sunk during the Norway invasion of April 1940, repeating the history of the previous Armored Cruiser Blucher which was the only capital ship lost at the Battle of Dogger Bank in WWI. The WWII Blucher was surprised by Norwegian coastal torpedo batteries and guns from the fortress of Oscarsborg while sailing up the fjord towards Oslo.

1/700 scale waterline kit that is very highly detailed and finely molded. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Yawata Maru was one of the three Nitta Maru class NYK Line passenger ships commissioned in the late 1930s. All three were converted to aircraft carriers. Yawata Maru was launched on October 31, 1939 from her builder, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Nagasaki. She did see peacetime service as an ocean liner for a short period on the Pacific route to America. After war was declared, Yawata Maru was rebuilt at Kure Naval Yard as the Taiyo-class escort carrier Unyo. She had a very active war career but was sunk by two torpedoes from USS Barb on September 17, 1944.

The early issue from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Classic motorized kit with over 100 moving parts. All internal cardboard and cello display packing is present. When built, all major internal parts move via electric motor and spark plugs (red lights) flash in time. This kit has never been started. The small metal parts and hardware are still factory sealed. I did a complete inventory on all clear, red, black and metallic colored parts and they are complete. Does include the very rare Renwal plastic cement. Please NOTE that the box only grades as 'Poor++.' The very top of the box (shown) is intact, but the rest of the box was in about 8 pieces and is neatly taped together with clear tape. Three sides panels are complete, but the right short one is missing (2) 2" long sections on the far left and far right; they have been replaced with white cardboard. The box bottom is complete but also taped together. Summary: the actual kit is excellent but the box is not in collectible condition.

Large and very well detailed kit that is over 22 inches long when assembled. Features well over 100 pieces, clear cockpit and passenger windows, excellent landing gear and gear well detail, adjustable position droop nose, detailed engine inlet and exhaust and even inner engines. Molded in gloss white, black and clear. There is no assembly but NOTE: the landing gear parts are very neatly painted silver. There is no ther painting. Inventoried and the actual aircraft is complete; however, the display stand is missing. Includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals have age micro-cracking.
